Okay, got a dog spelled backwards dog story. Preface, my wife volunteers at the animal shelter and was working a dog adoption event at Petco yesterday. I usually never go but she asked if I would go just to help set up.

Well, I fall in love with Bella, a 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier. As the day wears on, I deliver lunch and run errands. By the end of the day I think that I am adopting a dog but find out that someone has adopted her out from under me. I’m sad.

Fast forward to this morning. I’m looking out my front window drinking my morning coffee when I see Bella walk past the front of my house. I run out and call her name. The woman walking her, her new owner, walks over and we start talking. Apparently, it was a rough night for Bella and the new owners previous dog. I expressed that if things didn’t work out, please consider me. Well, tonight at 7:30, I get a call that the white flag had been waved. Bella is now at her forever home. An amazing miracle!

She had actually been in 2 other homes prior to this. All had previous pets. She wanted to eat one family’s cat and the last two had dogs that wanted to be a one dog family. She is so sweet. She is unsure at this point from all the bouncing around but she is stuck with us.

Well, it didn’t take long for me to remember what sleeping with a bed hog dog was like. Lol. She’s a great sleeper, snores in stereo with my wife and leaves me with one leg hanging off the side of the bed. It was GREAT!

Thanks for sharing Dave. I need a good story like this today. It sound like you need a bigger bed.

Sounds she knows she is finally home. You will see it when you feel it, when she gives that look right into your eyes with her endearing eyes that touch your sole saying to you I’m home.
Congrats at uniting with you and your wifes, best friend.
    She sure is a cutie.

Mother In Law flew back to Minni for a month. When she comes back I think the pug is old enough to sleeps with her. Hope he’s better than Tuffy who would get up several times at night and walk all over you, including your head.

Nice story Dave! We had a pit 5 years ago that unexpectedly died after swallowing something. They are sweet dogs and get a bad rap because people are not educated enough on the bully breeds. Most are taught to fear so that’s where the problems start. Coolest breed if you ask me and they make awesome watch dogs. You will see how mellow and smart she is once in a good home…..enjoy!
