I am looking at getting 2 Helix 10 MEGA SI units for my boat. I want to plug one into the US2 on the trolling motor, but will also have them ethernet together to share waypoints and sonar. My question is, if I am sitting in the Bow, Can I get my US2 sonar on my display, but also have the SI and DI from the rear transducer without getting the 2d sonar from the rear? so basically I’m getting 2d from the US2, but the SI and DI from the rear? or is that a Lowrance thing only? I do not want to have the 2d sonar coming from the back…but I also want the SI and DI going so that when I am fishing in the bow to see stuff that I might be missing…

Yes. It’s all configurable in the settings.

I don’t think you need to spend the extra $$ on the SI version for the bow if you’re only using the 2d sonar portion of it. You can share the SI data from the console SI unit/ducer with a much cheaper non SI model.

Very good point, I completely missed that part. waytogo

Another positive besides less $$ is you don’t have that big SI ducer to get knocked off, on the TM.

Indeed, just get the GPS model and you’re set

Before you buy, look at the Humminbird Compatibility Chart. To share Chirp and Mega Images, both units have to have those features.

Check on compatibility with US2 ducers too. Stopped at the Humminbird booth at a boat show last winter. At least for my older unit anything with SI/DI was not compatible with US2.

Needed to run a sonar/gps only if I wanted one on my bow to use US2

Yes, absolutely. That’s the exact arrangement I have on my boat with older 999/1199 units. Works great and the sonar source selection process is easy. With the newer Helix units I’ve played with it’s all getting even easier.

Here’s the Network compatibility chart, and needed cables:

When you download the attachment, pay close attention to the small print at the top with the “1” “2” and “3” disclaimers as this indicates what data is able to be shared between dissimilar units.

I think you might have got bad information…the US2 is absolutely compatible with SI/DI units for providing sonar data, it just can’t provide SI/DI data. And you need to get an adapter cable.

Here’s the US2 compatibility list, and proper adapter cable:
