I am looking at getting my wife a Dodge Durango. 2012-2015. new or used. Looking for anyone that has one or has had one. What do you like about them or dislike. Any years that have bad problems? I have a ranger 620 that I might have to do a couple short pulls with it. 10-35 miles. I usually pull it with my duramax, but there will be times I might have to use the Durango. I would like to see her get a Tahoe, but she likes the Durango. Just looking for some info if anyone has one. Thanks

If its a 5.7 hemi it should not have any issues.

I have a 2004 with a hemi and 192,000 miles on it. This has been one of the best vehicles I have owned. I frequently pull a 2003 Lund Mr. Pike 16 with no issues and get 11-13 mpg on average. When not towing it will get 15-16 in town and 18-20 at interstate speed.

the older generation Durangos are very hit or miss. You get one like tmorgz or you get one that will hydro lock due to poor water diversion at the cowling. The years in which you speak don’t seem to have any major issues. But if it were me I would push towards the Tahoe.

My wife drives a 2004 with the HEMI, 107,000 miles and humming along. As a service manager at a Chrysler store, I have never seen this hydro lock issue… in 14 years ??? ???

BTW, I have been pressuring her to get a new one for about 6 years, but she loves her ’04.

My boss has one of the newer ones, has pulled his ice castle and boat to lotw from the twin cities many times in the last couple years and has had no issues.

Isn’t there a small diesel option still? If not, go with the Hemi. You will thank us when you hook up your 620. The 4.7 was not really the best tow option in the trucks.
