Wanted to use 6″ sucker minnows, guy I fish with says they have to be 8″+ because od the closed walleye season. Anyone know?

There are currently no bait restrictions unless fishing after 10 at night.

Grab a quick strike rig and a 16+” sucker and pull out a big muskie.

When the walleye ban started, I thought the live bait restrictions were the same as they have always been in the past. I guess that is not the case. Some other posters on here have confirmed that. The only restriction is that you cannot specifically target walleye and you can’t fish during the night ban unless it is to target muskies with suckers at least 8 inches long (or artificial lures, obviously).

WE ALL KNOW THE DNR HAS A WEBSITE!!!!! They have restricted livebait in the past and they are restricting livebait after 10pm-kind of a grey area, thanks to those who helped-BY HELPING.

    Your question was valid.

When the DNR suddenly closed the walleye season this year (which was unexpected based on what they were saying a week before) there was mass confusion on the new rules/restrictions.

I cannot tell you how many surprised anglers had it all wrong. A pattern of always changing the regs on that lake make it a continuing moving target.

Good luck if you go, 6″ suckers do very well out there for bass and “accidental” walleye. wink

Pardon me for thinking that linking to the actual wording on the DNR website is helping. Go ahead and take legal advice from strangers on internet forums. Good luck with that. I’ll continue to read the actual regulations when I need clarification.
