All of this Essential Series stuff regarding plastic injection is brand new to this side of tackle making. It will take a while for the molds to get integrated into the on-line and brick & mortar stores. While there have been some cheap plastic molds around for years, the quality has always been in the aluminum molds. Until now, the metal molds were all cut using CNC technology and carried a serious enough price tag that most hobby-minded people didn’t want to get involved. Do-It’s advanced sand cast technology has been developed to now make very accurate, affordable, plastic bait molds to partner with their already popular jig head and sinker molds. Do-It has done the research and also will offer the components to make plastic baits and the molds at a number of on-line stores like Netcraft and Barlows, but the best news is that these same items will be available on shelves and display hooks at Cabelas, Bass Pro, Fleet Farm, Scheels and Gander Mountain stores. Its just going to take some time to get everything in all the right hands.

As mentioned, the plastic molds and plastic has been available on a limited basis, but the plastic that has been available was not a very environment friendly plastic in that it has been loaded with Pthalates that could leach into the water where they are used. The Essential Series of plastic now offered by Do-It to companion with the new molds is phthalate-free. The Essential plastic is also very heat tolerant making it the most forgiving plastic on the market for the beginning home hobbyist tackle maker. The plastic is easy to work with and has a very gentle learning curve and has a very low level of odor.

If anyone wants more specific information they can PM me and I’d be happy to help where I can. This is a super hobby.
