A while back I mentioned that Do-It molds was going to offer an entry level line of soft plastic molds. I finally got my hands on one to play with and have to say its a breeze to work with and the baits that come from it are top shelf quality. I’ve done a couple split body colors but in the picture the chartreuse is under the blue on the two baits in the far left. Tail colors as well as split body colors come out very nice. The tail is very similar to the fat grubs and is all action with little work put into it.

The best way to see the molds and what is offered in this Essential line is by simply contacting Do-It molds.com and requesting a color catalog…free of course. Netcraft, Barlows and a couple of the on-line vendors now selling the products and soon Cabelas, Gander Mountain, Scheels and Fleet farm will have these on store shelves and hooks with complete lines of plastic and colorants. For the hobby minded, this is something that has been long over due.

Here’s another color I did over the weekend that sort of took a wrong turn on me. Cheap glitters were to blame but in the end this color combination has turned out pretty nice.

My intention color-wise was to get a clear plastic with some red, copper and brown micro glitter in it. The red and brown components were not the least bit heat tolerant and the colors sloughed of in a blink when the heat hit them. I shot some small baits using the mix-up thinking it may be a decent crappie color but then as I worked and looked at the cup of plastic on the bench a little longer I decided to do this grub again in the same color pattern. Actually all three baits look pretty nifty and I’m betting the fish will think so too. I can see walleyes and smallies chasing the larger two baits down.
