Having gps and mapping do I need to unplug power to the battery for ice? I assume it will keep running even when powered down. Will I need a disconnect also for my boat battery don’t want a dead starting battery no issues with my lowrance locators.

I don’t think so. With the internal GPS, I believe the GPS shuts off when the unit is powered down, unlike the external pucks that always drew power when connected to the battery.

With that said, a shutoff switch is never a bad idea.

mrpike when the unit is shutoff there is no battery draw. The GPS has to relocate the satellites when it is powered back up.

There is also a Standby mode that will continue to draw power but at much lower rate. To access StandBy press and release the power button and it is one of the options. The ability to dim your screen is there also.

I left mine connected during the season. I didn’t notice any difference.
