Do I have to study the manual…again?

Ok, I skimmed through the Helix 7 manual paying attention to somethings that were different or new to me.

I don’t recall there being an answer to the one item that really annoys me about the Helix and that is…
    Scrolling through the screens.

I know I can hide screens and have done that with a number of them but there are screens that I use frequently and it’s annoying to me to have to scroll forward or backward to get to the screen that I want. Is there anyway to preset a screen or two?
Press a button that jumps to say Navigation and Sonar?

Brian, they’re should be 3 buttons on your helix for this, simply hold button until it says “shortcut saved”

Specifically the 3 buttons stacked above the power button with no label

Ya know what, I’ll bet you don’t have them Brian. I guess there’s more than 1 reason why they’re so much less than the bigger screens. Sorry bud

    Looks like 9+ has them

Try holding down the “View” button for a few seconds. Not sure if the 7 has it but the 10 pops up a menu showing all the displays to quickly go to. May or may not help but worth a try.

You can also push the exit button and it will scroll the opposite way through all of your views so it you accidentally go one too far you don’t have to go through all of them again to get back to it.

Brian, I watched a guy set his Helix 7 up, and what he did was eliminate all screens that he did’t intend to use, settling on the three screens he wanted, and he simply pushed his view button to the screen he would need at any given moment.

Not having the pre-set buttons, in my opinion, was a big mistake that was made when they put these newer units out. When I showed this guy how I use my pre-sets on my 899, he just shook his head…

There’s a way in the menu to “hide” the screens you don’t use. Dang if I remember how. But I watched a tutorial on YouTube on it this weekend. I picked up a 7 SI, GPS this weekend too. I’m new to all this technology. Been watching a lot of YouTube lately…… I’ll see if I can find it.

    Think it’s in here.

Never mind. I should have read the OP better. Guess you know how to hide screens already. Talk about premature informagasm…. I just got excited I thought I knew what you guys were talking about.

    LOL Drifter you did.

    Full Screen GPS
    Down Image/Gps
    Full screen Down Image
    Sonar/Down Image
    Down/Side scan
    Sonar/Gps
I have uses for all of the above all the time.

I switched over to bird in the new boat just to see for myself what I like better keeping in mind that I’ve been a Lowarance guy for…well since they came out with the LMS 480 in 2004.

Most everything is the same…but this scrolling through screens is for the “birds”. <- )

Only the lowest cost models have them missing… You buy low end you get low end.

And I see a helix 7 going on a lot of boats, must be there price most are willing to pay

$800.00 is chump change I guess in the fishing electronics world.

That’s what I paid for my Helix 9 CHIRP, with the view memory buttons.

Doah! Unfortunately it’s only the 7 that will fit in my dash.

I will admit an in dash unit made me raise my eyebrow but it’s not a hard core fishing boat either. Most fishermen want to up grade or the unit is discontinued and parts aren’t available for it.

I could mount a larger unit on the dash but it does look nice in the dash.

Brian, I’m short and had to get a booster seat to see over my new unit. I was just surprised that a 7 cost the same as my 9.

But does yours come with SI, DI, and GPS?

Adding SI causes the biggest price jump.

The 7 starts around $399. if I recall. Adding the SI, DI, Gps and networking pops retail up to $799. I don’t recall what exactly I paid. The Solera comes with a low end model. So there was credit for the higher end unit applied.
