Tis the season for the DNR shock boats to be up in the tailwaters and other favorites of anglers to be shocking up the waters and sampling. What effect do you normally see that have on fishing? Is that spot essentially worthless for a day? a week? at all?

I’m sure this has been discussed adnauseum but i thought i’d ask.

I’ve never noticed much of a lasting impact on Pool 4 of the Mississippi River. My guess is there’s always fishing moving in and out of a specific spot so we don’t end up fishing an unchanging population of fish coping with a shock boat hangover.

Yeah i assumed it woudl be the case. Sat alot of guys were cursing the shockboats for being there last week and i was like, i can’t imagine a fish is going to be too upset for too long over that.
