DNR Rulemaking for Spearing and Northern Pike Restrictions
What is this rule about?
This rule is about fishing regulations. If you are not interested in this topic, you can disregard this rulemaking notice.
Where do I send my comments?
You have until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015, to submit comments to the Office of Administrative Hearings at [email protected] or 600 North Robert Street, P.O. Box 64620, St. Paul, Minnesota 55164-0620.
What will this rulemaking do?
We must match existing rules to changes made by the 2015 legislature. These rule changes will delete certain language prohibiting spearing and modify the northern pike protected slot. The DNR is using the good cause exemption rulemaking process to make this rule change.
Who might be affected by this rulemaking?
Anglers who fish with spears on Stieger Lake (Carver County), Big Lake (Beltrami County), East and West Rush Lakes (Chisago County), and Wabedo Lake (Cass County), and hook and line anglers who fish for northern pike on East and Rush Lakes. These rules allow spearing on all the lakes mentioned above where it was previously prohibited and adjust the northern pike protected slot limit on East and Rush Lakes.
