Anyone build their own folding summit style livescope pole. Looking for ideas
A shack pole, ice scraper and 3 zip ties. You need the nut on the end of the transducer to fit in the C end of the pole. It worked just fine. It folds up just fine.
This is what I did when I got my Panoptix a couple years ago. This is a simple window washer telescoping pole you can get on Amazon. The threaded end works perfectly for what comes with the OEM pole.

That looks pretty sweet!
You likely spent close to $3,000 on your Livescope system, why go cheap on the pole? The Summit pole is about $120

Why not.

I think the summit pole looks like junk. Just my opinion. If I’m going to use junk it better be cheap so for that reason I made my own for cheap and I feel it works much better than the summit set up.
I’m going on 3+ seasons with the Summit pole and I use it for both winter & summer fishing, it works great, not a single issue. Yes, if you want to troll a heavy lure 5mph then there are better options, but they will cost you 4x the price of a Summit.
My post was meant to counter those who want to build a cheap pole out of pvc or something, thats where I meant spending a little more $ and just getting a Summit makes more sense imo…
Got tired of the cumbersome Garmin pole and ordered a Summit yesterday. My first thought was “it’s that much?” Then I realized what I paid for the whole unit and an extra $100+ didn’t seem like a big deal.
Glenn-d, nice work on the pole hack.
I built my own out of a camera tripod….but still ended up with the Summit…. now I have ball mounts on all my boats!

I plan on getting Live Target from Lowrance this year, and I like the Summit option because it’s the cheapest, while having features for both open water and ice fishing. Do they not hold up well a high trolling speeds or cruising around the lake at 5-8 mph? I plan on using it a lot for 2-3 mph trolling for walleye and salmon, but I also was hoping to utilize the forward view to help avoid any rocks on new waters in Canada, and it’d be nice to go a bit faster than 2-3 mph up there. Thanks!
The summit pole/ ram mount does not work well at trolling speeds. It is not sturdy enough and will flex from water drag. I’d look into other options

this is true, the Ram C ball cant keep the pole vertical at speeds over 3-4 mph… you’ll need to spend $400+ on a specific pole and mount to achieve that…
What’s your tripod one look like?
Cut out a poly cutting board…..stand like a garmin
Telescoping monopod and a home made pivot for perspective.
