I am in the process of researching a DIY hunt for pheasant/sharp-tail where I would get the possibility of finding either a chukar or quail in the process. I live in SE MN so I would not like to drive cross country but within reasonable distance 10-15 hour drive where there is a decent amount of state land. Has anyone tried Sothern NE or would I have to venture further? I don’t need exact towns or anyone’s honey hole but just a general area in the state for a starting point so I could start looking into lodging/campgrounds, what is in the area for lands and other things in the areas to do. I did North western NE last year on the Wyoming border and worked back across the state but would like to try further south to pursue the opportunity of a bigger variety of species.
