My 15 year old Kitchen Aid dishwasher motor is going, $350 part. So time for a new Dishwasher. Was thinking of staying in the Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid line again but want to hear about GE and Bosch 300/500 models. Real life experiences.

We had a Bosch and liked it until there was a recall because of a control board issue that became a fire hazard. Had the parts replaced under warranty, but it quit soon after that. It was very quiet and honestly cleaned the dishes better than any dishwasher we have had. The other nice thing is that it heated the water but it wasnt like an element sitting in there. It was an inline water heater kind of like a tankless. The one we have now is junk but I bought a cheapy.

At my last house I bought a Bosch dishwasher that I liked the most of any I have had before or since. I think it was 6 years old when we moved and had zero issues with it. Bosch would be the first I would look at when I need to replace the one I have now.

I have also heard good things about Bosch.

We bought an entire LG Kitchen package about 6 years ago and I have NOT been impressed – The dishwasher is a borderline lemon. We’ve had it serviced several times (under warranty). Still, every now and then it will stop mid-cycle but not give us an error code. It’s just something we live with. For the most part it works and we can deal with it, but will likely avoid LG with future appliance purchases. Had to have the compressor replaced on the Fridge, too.

They don’t build anything to last anymore.

My parents have a Bosch and they like it. I just installed a new Maytag at my house about 3 months ago and it’s been good so far

I have a bosch and its awesome. You don’t realize how quiet it is until you go over to someone’s house who has a different brand and it sounds louder than a lawnmower when compared to the bosch. You can’t even hear it when its running. It gets the dishes cleaner than any other dishwasher I’ve had before. Well worth the money for something that gets used almost daily.

I had a Whirlpool at my last house which was new when I bought the house in 2012. I never had an issue. It was somewhat loud when I ran it though.

The one I have now is also a Whirlpool but its much quieter. A lot depends on what kind of water you have. The city water here is not as good as it was at my last house.

Have a Kitchen Aide and love it. It’s whisper quiet.

Same issues with our LG stuff. Bought new 5 years ago. Dishwasher likes to quit sometimes and we’ve also had a compressor replaced in the fridge (under warranty thankfully).

    I’d stay away from LG.

You know why a wedding gown is traditionally white right? So the dishwasher matches the stove and the refrigerator.

Since you have several responses i’ll ask a question that I’m curious about. This isn’t a shot at anybody but these type of threads make me wonder sometimes.

The question….why after 15 years and nearly 5,500 trouble free cycles would you even consider changing brands? I get that it’s nice to know what else is out there but what you have has served you well.

Do you think quality control in brands doesn’t change over time?

Bosch is good stuff, be it powertools or appliances.
The new place we bought a Bosch package, DW, range, refrigerator, in Pease and other than a burner on the stove having an occasional wonky NG ignition issue it has been perfect.

We went around and around with appliances on the new build. I got sick of reading reviews, consumer reports, etc and ultimately came to the conclusion that it’s a crapshoot and to work with a place that has a quality service department and following on whatever you choose. These aren’t the 1980s versions of refrigerators where they run the same they did 20 years ago, regardless of brand.

We were told different tidbits on brands as they related to specific appliances that seemed to follow a trend regardless of the source. LG dishwashers were only worth running from, while LG probably has the most reliable direct drive technology for washers and dryers on the market. Bosch and Kitchen Aid graded high on most everything with the people we talked to. Whirlpool stoves/ranges had some questionable reviews with hinges and other failing parts early on. Samsung was the upper part of the pack on most appliances. GE graded out similar to Samsung in our findings.

We narrowed our search somewhat to GE, Samsung, and Bosch…then from there compared prices and availability of colors the Mrs. wanted. We ended up with Samsung refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, wall oven…LG washer and dryer…and a GE cooktop. Only time will tell if our choices were right

Kiel sold to Ashworth in Mora years ago. They renamed themselves, I forget what they are called now.

Had a GE crap out on us 3 years into a brand new home. $698 for a new motherboard??? beat out a new $1500 replacement. Blame the wife for picking out appliances at the new build for an exclusive “slate” GE color.

4 months later another $400 repair needed.

Went to NFM and bought a Bosch at the suggestion of the sales guy who was helping out another former GE customer.

Can’t say it will stand the test of time, and he was a sales guy, but said that they have lots of customers come in due to GE dishwasher issues.

I’ve got a Bosch at the house and am very impressed with it. I even throw the grates from the smoker in it from time to time. They come out spotless. Put one in up at the cabin and it’s proven itself to be fantastic as well.

That’s why you go to Warners Stellian and have them tell you what is currently the best. In the case of a dishwasher, go with Bosch.
