I’ll mention one other thing before taking a break, as I mentioned in another thread…it’s different when you work in Hospital, on the front lines. We head into work everyday knowing very well that just about most of us are expected to catch this. I’m more scared that I may pass this on to my family. Some of you I’m sure think it’s a joke while you sit in your car, home office, reading the paper while retired in your cabin. Come spend 12-16 hrs a day in a hospital full of sick and dying people, hardly any beds, vents, and PPE for staff because idiots purchased all that crap.

Peace out and best of luck!

bow bow If only the general public understood what kind of stress direct patient care workers are going through right now. PPE shortage has been in the news, but most of it hasn’t. The difference in opinions between nurses who want the best for themselves and their patients and the hospital leaders who want whats best for their pockets and their end of the year bonuses. My respect for the hospital and organization I work for was already draining, but this is an all time low for me.

That said, everyone here will be affected in one way or another so I dont mean this to me a “why me” post. Whether its a loved one falling ill, losing a few paychecks or their job entirely.. everyone is going through a difficult time right now. If they aren’t, they’re oblivious to whats going on around them like I was for weeks.

I will speak to this as I am in the same boat as Bob, and have had a long week working in the hospital and on the ambulance. It’s definitely tough thinking about what you might be bringing back to your home. My wife is a nurse so my household has two people going in and out of hospitals with infected patients. It takes it’s tole on all of us including people not in the medical field.

Tempers will naturally flare up, things that shouldn’t be said will be. What we all need to remember is the precautions the medical field is asking us all to take isn’t about you or me. It’s about THE WHOLE POPULATION. You can’t stop something like this unless the majority of society comes together and adheres to the guidelines. Which is something this country has a hard time doing. Let’s all just take a deep breath, realize this is going to take some time, effort, and some level of discomfort, but it will pass.

Be nice to the people around you (if there are any). I’m guilty of it too lately.

Thank you both and all others who are on the front of this. waytogo waytogo waytogo

I completely agree with you here Tbro. I won’t say which company I work for but I have felt the same way this week. First they say we have to wear N-95 masks to protect ourselves when caring for virus/possible infected patients, then this week they say only droplet protection is needed (regular hospital mask) and then yesterday the WHO states its actually being airborne transmitted. So our company says ok now you can use N-95’s but only if you’re directly working with infected patients IN THE ICU. Screw the rest of ya!

We already felt under appreciated by the big guns (which is nothing new for any hospital worker) but now it’s obvious our health is of no concern to them either.

Give OSHA a call just saying! Or whatever agency deals with hospital safety standards.

Not sure it’ll matter right now. For two reasons. 1 being there is about to be massive shortages, and 2 being OSHA is already swamped by this virus that will be one of the last things they get to tackle.

The company I work for has been deemed a critical supply company and I have been officially informed as of last night that the travel I do, almost every week since this crap showed up, has been deemed necessary to help maintain the critical food supply chain.
The stress of that is a lot for my family knowing I will have to travel through and to places with high incident rates almost weekly.
I CANNOT imagine the stress that medical personnel and there families are experiencing!
I hope that they get control of this soon for your safety and sanity.
