I get it. We have disagreement on many things…

But why do we have to resort to name calling when a person doesn’t agree with someone’s opinion?
    Idiot
    Stupid analogy
Pony face… (well I tossed that one in there because I still don’t know if it was an insult or the poster just like ponies.

I come from a split household. Not that either one of us are out of work but the FW’s Friday Night shoes will be left in the closet for a few weeks. We’ll have to have our 3 drinks and dinner at home although I’m sure it will be carry out.

Good, in fun poking is great. I love watching it, being the poker and the pokee, but there’s no reason to be nasty. It’s not like we’re going to change anyone’s opinion…and more so when a reply starts with “you’re an idiot”.

Thank you to listening to my sermon du jour.

The stress level is making more crazy than normal. I am having to unfollow many of my FB friends from risk of ruining friendships over this stuff.

    Sorry. toast

Sometimes it’s hard to keep quiet when you work in that field and people seem to blow it off or put misleading facts out. Opinion is one thing-facts are another. And misleading facts are even another.

    I’ll settle down.

    Well said Brian
My Mother always told me that if you don’t have something nice to say to, or about someone, try not to say anything at all.
At times it’s hard but I don’t want her hearing me and washing my mouth out with soap.
My hands are getting plenty of that these days.

I think when you introduce degrees of separation the risk of accountability drops. You don’t just see it in social media but also in traffic. You can have the nicest person in the world and they become a jerk behind the wheel. Different situation than face to face interactions where you may invite trouble to your own peril.

I’ll mention one other thing before taking a break, as I mentioned in another thread…it’s different when you work in Hospital, on the front lines. We head into work everyday knowing very well that just about most of us are expected to catch this. I’m more scared that I may pass this on to my family. Some of you I’m sure think it’s a joke while you sit in your car, home office, reading the paper while retired in your cabin. Come spend 12-16 hrs a day in a hospital full of sick and dying people, hardly any beds, vents, and PPE for staff because idiots purchased all that crap.

Peace out and best of luck!

I think the COVID situation coupled with a bad season for ice, plus the recent closure of game fish has all combined to cause some cabin fever and shorter tempers. A belated welcome to IDO!

THIS is why I mostly keep my posts based on fishing and fishing information. I can and do get sucked into a vortex off subject but I mostly come here for fishing info and I’m better for it by keeping it that way. Sociol media is full of mud slingers hiding behind there keyboards.

If you think about it. Social Media, such as this is very important right now. Our face to face has been limited, so we have this. Guess Im just saying, dont take even this for granted. And we are gonna get through this C-19 ok. Yes many will get sick but not super sick. A few will and some will succomb, but the same is happening right now with Influenza. Do your part. Ride it out. Help your Brothers.

I love how every source of media and politician is saying we all need to come together yet they all continue to turn every part of this pandemic into a political argument. The general public is no better. It just never ends and will continue to get us nowhere. Sad really…

Well, I appreciate the removal of a new member. I was very close to being possibly being kicked out for posting a very clever intellectual sarcastic insult that would have most likely not been understood by the aforementioned former member.

I’ve probably pushed far more buttons than I should have as well.

On another note, I really wish IDO would follow their own policies about not allowing posts of political nature. I’d be less likely to get sucked in, along with 99% of the other posters here.

I will speak to this as I am in the same boat as Bob, and have had a long week working in the hospital and on the ambulance. It’s definitely tough thinking about what you might be bringing back to your home. My wife is a nurse so my household has two people going in and out of hospitals with infected patients. It takes it’s tole on all of us including people not in the medical field.

Tempers will naturally flare up, things that shouldn’t be said will be. What we all need to remember is the precautions the medical field is asking us all to take isn’t about you or me. It’s about THE WHOLE POPULATION. You can’t stop something like this unless the majority of society comes together and adheres to the guidelines. Which is something this country has a hard time doing. Let’s all just take a deep breath, realize this is going to take some time, effort, and some level of discomfort, but it will pass.

Be nice to the people around you (if there are any). I’m guilty of it too lately.
