Just picked up a used otter cabin flipover. Anyone have suggestions on lighting for it? I have a Livescope shuttle and lithium shuttle I can plug into. Thanks

There are dimmable 12v switches available. Several years back you could pick these up for around $3.00. I am currently using them with led rope lighting and other generic led lighting.

I have the Hawg lights on my flip shack currently. Used them one year and the usb connection got very hot and melted. They sent me a new one but I am not impressed with the product (amount of light, hot end). I’ve tried a lot of things over the years for lights. Now, I put my headlamp and/or my sons headlamp in the netting up top and turn to the flood setting (Olight Perun 3 or Nitecore UH65). No additional gear as we have those with us, small, rechargeable, plenty of light. Also, look at Olight O-Clip Pro…$30-$40 and about the size of a box of stick matches. Plenty of light, spot-flood-red…that’s all you need. I don’t see myself ever running light bars and cords again.

I’ve used otter lights, Hawg led bars, Eskimo hub lights, and Hawg hub lights. The otter ones work in my flip but I’m not sure the quality is really there. Hawg led bars worked well in the otter lodge hub, but I upgraded to the monster cabin and wanted more light. Tried the Eskimo hub light which is a cool concept, but didn’t put out the light I wanted. Now I use two Hawg hub lights and it gives me the light I need.

I don’t like USB connections for lights, that limits how much draw they have. I get them with regular battery connections and then swap to plugs that fit my power box.

Lights in the flip over and the single hub get velcroed into place and stay in the shack. With the double hub I have the cord mounted and just put up the light clusters when needed.

Im using the clam light bar in an otter lodge. It didn’t have the dimmer switch at the time but I added one. Super bright and lights up shack well. The clam came with different style clips so in could be mounted on crossbars of different brand shacks, which is where mine is mounted.

There are quite a few options. Best bet is to do a search on Amazon. Look for tent light. There are many more options shown if you think camping tent light than under a ice shelter light. Keep a close eye on the rechargeable battery size for each to meet your expectations.

I’ve had this one for a few years, never used it in the portable, but works great n the screen tent during the summer.

I purchased one several months back that is basically the same style as the one you listed. Mine does not have a remote but I went with a little larger battery capacity. I only charged it and turned it on and cycled through the settings. I have not used it yet for and length of time so I am a bit cautious on recommending it. Seems like a nice unit but…

3′ strip of waterproof led’s off EBay $8. I stuck them to the pole just above my head on my Otter Cabin flip over, ran the wire through the pole down to the tub where I have a small 12v battery to run them. I do not have a dimmer but they can be had for $5 on Amazon or Ebay. No need to spend $60 or more.

One of the nicest things I’ve done with LED lights in both my UTV cab and bed and in my boat is to install both regular white lights AND red LEDs that can be turned on instead of white lights. Red lights don’t need to be dimmed.

It is so nice not to constantly blow out your night vision with white light all the time, but still have all the light you need to find stuff and do stuff. In the boat, I have enough red LED lights that I can see to tie knots, but it’s still preserving my night vision. It’s also way easier on the eyes not to have the glare of LED white light on screens, etc.

Something to try if you’re putting in a light setup.
