Difference between Helix MDI+ and MDI

    Can someone explain the difference between the MDI+ and the regular MDI? I’m going to buy two Helixes for a new boat, and I’m trying to decide between the 8 inch, or the 9. I see that only the 9 inch has MDI+ and the 8 inch only comes in MDI. Is it worth the extra $200?

    Think it is just a clearer image basically which is always a bonus with sonar. What I can tell you is this Jeffrey. I just went through this myself. Bought a new boat last summer/fall and had a helix 7 msi put on it and figured that would be big enough. Figured I could use a helix 5 for gps and that would alow me to have the whole 7 screen for sonar. Especially for msi, bigger is better. Just make sure you buy the biggest best version you are comfortable with for your financial situation or i promise you will love the machine but want bigger and clearer. These suckers aint cheap. Just went and dropped 2 grand on a helix 10 msi+ last night. Now I know I will be happy. (At least till next year)😁. Good lck with your choice. If 200 is the only difference between the 8 and 9 go with the 9. You’ll be happy you did

    I was going to go with the two 8 inch screens, because it would save $535 total. That’s when I noticed the the 8 inch MDI wasn’t MDI+. I hear ya on bigger is better though. Thanks.

    No. I’m looking in the Bass Pro catalog and they are G3N. Both the 9 inch ones have the + but only the MSI 8 inch one has the +.

    Need some more help on this topic!

    So, I bought an Ulterra, a Helix 9 MDI, and a Helix 8 MSI. I get home and the Ulterra box says that I need to buy a separate accessory adapter cable to hook the Ulterra to the Helix. I went to buy one and they didn’t have the one for size Helix I have. But, the cable looked like it was less about 3 feet long and the guy at Bass Pro said he doesn’t think they make a longer one. So, how in the world do I plug in my Helix to the Ulterra if it’s in the back on the tiller console?
