    Just saw that

I don’t shop dicks often but I do every now and then.

Times are a changing. I guess if sales improve by removing hunting supplies…then they are only doing what makes sense.

Bummer but it’s a business. It’ll just force more sales to true hunting/fishing stores!

I think it’s weird to sell fishing or hunting stuff in a national chain like that. What about the stores are in places where neither fishing nor hunting are even popular activities. When national chains have to stock the same stuff across all stores, it doesn’t make sense to stock hunting stuff in an urban area where there is no hunting anywhere nearby.

    I’d say it’s a pretty Dick move….. jester

About the only time I ever set foot in their stores is if I’m bored and out of town for work.

I think that time will now be better spent in a K-mart or Pamida lol

plenty of soccer moms need supplies for their kids. Stores like Dicks likely bit off more than they could chew catering to the outdoors and are making a smart move by scaling back to save face. outside of “outdoor” states, they probably make a killing on sunglasses, shin pads, yoga pants and so on.

The store name alone should put a red flag up. When we had one here I was in it once and did not find what I went there for, so…..

The flash sales they have weekly on line are great. I do not like going into the store but these sales have great prices.

Perhaps this was the plan all along, and they gained some good virtue signaling PR by removing AR’s first.

My brother has nicknamed it the underarmour store. It wasn’t really their focus and they are better at the other departments.

At least in our region it still holds true that only Scheels can do multi-sport and legitimate outdoors departments.

They have been a clothing and sports equipment store for so long I haven’t taken their hunting/fishing dept serious for YEARS. I think they should have made this decision a long time ago. At least for the Woodbury store.

They have a pretty good rewards program so I’ll get certain gear in there but it’s mainly apparel.

I always swing into the fishing section because they will have good deals and usually a big clearance section. My guess is the timing and PR to shut down their hunting depts. is good now because of the political climate. There is no doubt in my mind it’s a business decision to shut it down. If sales were good, they would keep it.

Doing it this way they get some good PR for their target demographic – this was probably a foregone conclusion though.

x2 on scheels . Dicks is geared up for athletic sports , there hunting and fishing gear was crap anyway .

I like Dick’s. They have a decent fishing section and they are a lot closer than Bass Pro which is about 30 minutes away.

They can remove their un-American stores as far as I’m concerned.

Have bought several baseball items from them for the kids. Their baseball employees have always been good. Running section employees haven seemed to have much knowledge on the type of shoes for different feet. Wrestling section minimal at best. Fishing and hunting seemed to be decent but I never went out of my way for it or bought any fishing related items there.
Smart business move stick to baseball etc. great golf department

I picked up a flambeau buck decoy this fall for like half price, made my day, checking now and then about the summit climbers they have, when they go on sale.

What did you try to purchase?? I was able to use the 25% on a new shuttle, after tax and free shipping it was $202 to my door. I was hoping to find a better deal at the ice show but everyone wanted 200, then 20% off and add tax back in it was right around 210.

Well I tried for the striker ice climate jacket. No deal they told me. I actually called the onalaska WI store tonight. Just to see what they had in stock. Nothing in striker jackets in stock.

Only an online deal. But the online deal will not honor the 25% off the striker jackets.

So either way they can not help me.
