My friend is picking up a new boat motor in Fosston so we figure instead of wasting a 6.5 hour drive, might as well make a weekend out of it. Heading to devils for the first time. Any recommendations on areas to fish on devils? Seen a few reports of bottom bouncing with no location, a few reports of shallow stained water casting jigs and cranks or slip bobber in leeches, and a few reports of the west is the best in shallows. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Also, have been looking at accommodations and with it only being 2 of us, some of the resorts are a little pricey. Any pointers there would be great also. Perhaps a 2 person cabin on a state park in the area?

    Thanks in advance.

I’ve stayed at a few places on Devils and have enjoyed Lakeview lodge the most. Give John and Maria a call to see if they have an open room and to check their current rates. John is an avid angler who normally has good knowledge of where and what is working. Have fun. DL is my all time favorite lake. Endless miles of shoreline with the opportunity to never see another boat. Good luck. Can’t wait to head there in a few weeks.

Just returned home,we caught walleyes in just about each place we fished. Most of them were small 12-14, largest was 22.
The shallows were a bust for us, we caught the majority of our fish in 17-24 FOW. Water Temps were in the low 70’s, algae was in full bloom, most of the time the wind was nonexistent.

Friday night we went to lake irvine and caught our limit of eyes and pike trolling the basin instead of weed edges. People that trolled the weed edges that night only caught dinks so luckily we went our own path.

Saturday we went to devils and put in south of minnewaukon. We trolled the golden highway and caught our limits of eyes. Not so many pike tho on the golden highway. Only 5.

Smallest eye we kept was a 15, largest was a 19.25.

Awesome time. Never realized how big devils was till I seen it in person.
