Devils Lake Area Trip

Hey guys just looking for some insight and help. Me and three college buddies are taking a trip up to devils lake and are thinking about hitting alice or irvine friday to catch some walleyes hopefully. Any tips on how to fish these bodies of water or anyone that fishes them often care to share some insight on these lakes? Feel free to respond on this thread or private message me if you feel more comfortable with that. Thank you guys for the help in advance!!!

Look at google earth historic views. Fish the flooded roads and the ditches. Bring your tip-ups and make use of the ability to use 4 lines each. We catch a lot of our walleyes on tip-ups using just a split shot, plain hook, and a minnow. Some days the fish are a little negative and the tip-ups out fish jigging and a set line in the house.

Has there been a hot color / bait for this year?

James had a show on first ice out on Irvin. Something about lower water levels this year so fishing locations were different than in past years. Go back to one of the earlier IDO TV episodes to see what he said/did.
