Leaving for Devils at 4 AM tomorrow morning! Pretty excited to finally get out there on the soft water. Done a ton of research, but nothing can beat experience, has anyone been there as of recently? Read a few reports and such but just curious if anyone has been out there recently?

Be ready for tons of white bass and lots of small walleyes to sort through. I fish it almost weekly.
I’ve been doing well in 30 feet or so pulling cranks with lead core and snap weights, but I’ve heard that bottom bouncers and spinners have been good as well in shallower water.

Good to hear, I’m thinking the bigger ones are transitioning out deeper now. Not one to troll for walleye in much more than 25ft so it’ll be an adventure. As long as we can get over them I’m confident in my ability to catch them. Size has sounded like an issue though. Might have to target larger marks with jiggin raps if we can’t stay away from the little guys! I’ll post updates as I figure things out. Staying out there till sunday.

Well we had a hell of a trip! Boated just shy of 200 walleye in 3 days! Made it a bit of a challenge for myself and wouldn’t fish the same spot more than once. I broke the lake into 3 portions, east bay, Main bay, and west bay. Ended up catching piles of fish in almost all spots. Went through a TON of leeches but that’s a small price to pay for fishing as good as it was! But let me tell you, people out there will come fish next to you all the time. I was out in my own little flat and there were probably 15 boats right on top of me within an hour of getting there. So I told my girlfriend this got a little crazy pretty quick so we’re gonna move to another spot that should be good. Well 2 boats pack up after they see me pack up and proceed to follow me to my next spot!!! Kind of ridiculous if you ask me… But for my first time fishing devils I will say this for sure that I’ll be back before the end of the open water season this year!

Had the same problem in June. Was sitting in 5 feet of water 100 feet from shore casting to the shore. This ignorant clown decided to keep trolling between us and the shore. Not once but just kept making a circles around us pulling bouncers. BIL told me to keep my mouth shut. devil

When we were slip bobber fishing it was mostly under 14 ft of water. Around flooded timber. When pulling spinners on bouncers it was anywhere from 14ft in spots to upwards of 30ft by midday when they had pushed deeper. There’s definitely a trend of them pushing off structure once the water starts to warm up around 11 am or so. Spent some time trying to target bigger fish but they weren’t cooperating. Biggest of the trip was around the 22″ mark. There was also a good bite on some of the flats in 3 to 7 ft of water pulling shallow running cranks.
