Detroit River Lodging?

It is looking more and more like our Lake Erie trip might not happen for the 1st week in April due to the weather/dirty water. We are looking at possibly fishing the Detroit as another option if we cancel Erie. Does anyone have any recommendations on lodging for the Detroit? Everything that I have found is stating you do not want to stay in Detroit…but cannot find much else.

The 2 times I fished down there I stayed at a hotel in Brighton and the other was up NW of Lake St Clair.
Both were a ways from the access. We used an access down by Ecorse.

I wanted nothing to do with staying in Detroit.

MWC ran tournaments out of there for years. If you know any MWC Tourney guys hit them up for info. They always went out of Trenton Elizabeth Park launch.

I am asking about the Detroit River…not Port Clinton.

MX – Thanks – I know a few guys up there right now for the NWT, but as luck would have it all of the lodging will be taken by them when we are coming into town. It appears we have found a Best Western in Woodhaven that quite a few guys have recommended on another forum. They have boat parking/hook ups.

Here is the info in case anyone else is looking. https://www.bestwestern.com/en_US/book/hotel-rooms.23085.html?iata=00171890&ssob=BLBWI0003G&cid=BLBWI0003G:yext:website:23085

I’m away from my office and I’ll look back later today. Not far from Elizebeth park is a hotel that caters to tournaments. They had security guys patrolling the parking lot all night. I was very impressed. The hotel itself is blah, but having people look after my gear was great. I couldn’t sleep and went out to my boat around 2am and was rerigging rods. I was immediately confronted by security guys and they were very thorough

I appreciate it, Randy. You can kick me a PM if you’d like if you find it.

Ironically their phone number was still in my phone. I called and they still have security patrolling every night. HOWEVER – I would still remove what I reasonably can and take in your room

This place is about 3 miles from the launch and easy to get to. Many tournaments are recommending this place

That is what they said. Did they have that bar in there when you went? If so, how was the food? Did you launch out of The Lake Erie Metro Park? I believe that is the close one and is where the NWT is running out of this week. Are there any issues I should know about on that lower stretch that you found? Again, I appreciate your time.
