Hi all, my girls and I are currently looking up lodging options in Destin, FL. My nephew is marring a gal from that direction and we are going to stay in Destin area for a couple nights in March. I was hoping to be close to the water and do some surf fishing while we are there. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a place to stay in the area? We are not stuck on staying right in Destin. That is where we are flying out from. The wedding is a couple hours north in Georgia.

Can’t recommend anything but that might be spring break time.

Lot’s of really good options on Airbnb.

We are going down in April for Spring Break with a couple of families and got a big house right on the beach. Can’t really go wrong as there is something for everyone.

I agree! My wife wants to be cheap and get a budget hotel… I was leaning on getting away from the busy strip and finding something like this for 2 days on the beach. We did stay in Gulf Shores for a week a few years ago. Surf fishing was fantastic!!! It was nice being right there on the beach.

The great thing about Air B&B is that most are bigger than a Motel suite and have at least a small kitchen so you can get some basic stuff and not eat all of your meals out. You end up saving the same money by hitting-up Publics and doing some home cooking.

If you are going to FL you gotta stay on the beach. You don’t wanna stay off the water and be relegated to public beaches only.

We’ve used VRBO the last few trips and had good luck with them, too. No issues with Airbnb but vrbo seemed to have more availability and better pricing.

I am planning a trip to this area and wanting to book soon. Me, the Wife and two kids between 7-14. We want o be right on the beach. Any opinions on a condo on Destin Beach Sandpiper units, Shoreline Towers, etc) or a hotel down on the Fort Walton Beach side of the area?
