Best rod I’ve found for blade baits is the 7’6″ Eyecon MLXF. You can easily get away with the 6’9″ and even possibly the 6’3″, but I like the extra length. Only size blade I use is the 1/4oz. 10-15lb Powerpro line is what I like to use.
I have a couple, I like the Avid 69mlxf for pitching, but for vertical jigging, I prefer my Eyecon 63MXF. You wouldn’t believe the difference in how your arm feels after two days of vertical jigging with the 63mxf vs the 69mlxf, but the 69mlxf is far superior for pitching in every way. That said, if I had to pick only one, I’d go with the 69mlxf for it’s pitching abilities.
Fun to see this question posted again ! Fred, not every rod mft has the same action even if the sticker says it is the same. The St Croix 6’9″ regardless of series, is a great choice for pitching 1/4 oz & less blades. It is also a very diverse for a bucktail rod as well !

Once upon a time Dean gave this advice to my friend Scott, and Scott shared with me. Eyecon 7″6″ MLXF!
My preferred pitching rod too (until it is to cold to use it, dang tiny guides). XF keeps fish ON after you’ve hooked up!

I bought the same Eyecon 76mlxf from Dean – two of them actually – and it’s a great slip bobber and dragging rod. Not half bad for rigging, either. Call it personal preference, but I wouldn’t want to pitch blade baits or jigs with it. Just my opinion.
Haven’t too done much blading, but that of which I have went with my baitcaster 66m premier. The control was pretty awesome and allows me to throw with left hand and give the right a break. 10# mono gave the bait lil different lift than my 6-8# mono on spinning setups and more durability for getting those things out of snags. 2 cents
