Has anyone ran a small dehumidifier in their hard side house? There is a lot of condensation and the small ones are cheap like $45 on Amazon. Just curious and looking for input

I do not buy into the radon deal, yet I’ll say having it installed has removed all moisture & odor in a 1952 St. Louis park built house.

You must not have a vented heater, that’s the best cure. Mines so dry I have to add moisture. It sure couldn’t hurt to try it, run the condensation right down a hole. What’s radon hot to do with his question?

I have a firebrand with a forced air furnace and get moisture on the bottom of the windows and around the door. Thought maybe someone here has tried it and could give me a thumbs up or down

It has to do with installation of a radon system for the sole purposes of removing all moisture & odors as it reverses the chimney effect of a house. Run a dehumidifier long enough & it’ll cost more than this system.

I have no clue what radon has to do with it.

Anyhow, no on the dehumidifier. You will have some wet after you first setup but it’ll dry. The moisture around the windows and doors is condensation caused by cold meeting warm.
Better windows or maybe better sealed. Same with the door.

Have you tried running a fan to circulate air?

Since you have a basement, I would definitely install a good quality dehumidifier there (the one reviewed by HVACguides101). Personally I would recommend a Santa Fe dehumidifier from Sylvane. you can order them online and the shipping is free. They are industrial strength quality and will dehumidify the entire basement. You will need to have a drain or sump hole for the water to drain into (and it sounds like you need a sump pump anyway). I’ve run 2 in a crawlspace and have one unit in my basement now. I keep the basement at 40% humidity or less; it really makes a difference in keeping any damp loving insects out and has dried out any existing damp in the joists. I would bet that a basement dehumidifier would help eliminate the mold on the lower part of your walls.

i have never seen a basement in a fish house. would love to see your setup
