My bird feeder is about 7′ off the ground and far enough away from trees so they can’t jump to it. I use a 3 step ladder to fill it. Just remember to move the ladder so they don’t use it a a jumping/launch point. Many years squirrel free.

Funny enough I think it’s been a battle since the beginning of time. I remember one grandpa putting a piece of metal on a tree where they’d jump from super high up to land on his feeders. It worked, but then a wood packer started banging on the metal all the time. My other grandpa tried over and over to get rid of them and then tapped out and he started feeding em. Now they have a bunch of albino ones in town for some reason.
