Has anyone found any sheds yet. I have heard that a lot of deer around this area have already started to shed their antlers…My buddys neighbor shot a buck that had shed both sides already right before Christmas..Thought he had a big doe and found out different. A couple of people have found some around the area, plus lots of camtrakker pics with one siders..Have some great food sources on my land right now, but with no snow them big bucks could be anywhere feeding right now….Hope to be out lookin and findin some soon!!! Anyone have any tips of where they think they will be hittin the fields or in the wooods??

If they are droppin them already, I better start checkin my neighbors two UNPICKED cornfields…. There were trails comin from every directions to the fields when there was snow on the ground, but now with the snow gone they will walk anywhere to get to the fields.
Your best bet would be to check out known bedding areas in the winter. South facing hillsides are also a good bet. During cold sunny days deer will bed there also. Also if you know where the deer cross fences to and from feeding and bedding areas. They have dropped horns either crawling under or jumping over fences. Of course feeding areas are a good possiblity. If fact if the feeding area is an unpicked cornfield out in the middle of nowhere, deer will just stay there.
Good luck. It can be a frustating hobby, but it’s GREAT just getting out of the house. If you find a shed it’s always a treat and it doesn’t matter how big the shed is either.January 12, 2004 at 12:42 am #288200If they are droppin them already, I better start checkin my neighbors two UNPICKED cornfields…. January 26, 2004 at 1:39 pm #2174I cruised thru Goose Island county park south of LaCrosse yesterday when i got off the ice. there are HUNDREDS of deer in here, including some WHOPPERS. Could only look a few minutes for sheds, since I had the dog with me…but noticed some bucks still had horns, one buck had one horn and two more bucks had lost both antlers. It’s time to start serioius lookin’!

February 27, 2004 at 2:22 am #2387I have found 3 so far! It has been really tough, however, now that the snow is melting and it is finally warming up, it should be better.
Personally, the biggest thing to remember is to train your eyes to look for sheds. It is still fun to just take a hike and always better to find a horn!!Good luck!
