I talked to a buddy of mine from kansas and he told me about a big one taken down there, that was going to be a new state record but would fall short of being world record potential…i dunno if this is the same buck or not though.

Hey Steve, I was sent these same photos from a friend about a month ago stating the same thing about a possible world record. I knew I had seen something on the net about this deer being shot a few years ago. Well I found the picture of the deer on a website called http://www.AwesomeAntlers.com (worth checkin out!) This deer was shot back in the Fall of 2000 in Coffey County, Kansas. It is a 16 pt. that was shot with a 270 and scored 213 6/8 Boone and Crocket.I hope this helps.

I think that this is a non-typical frame though.

Thanks for the info Dave, here is the scoop on this buck from Boone and Crockett:

This is the deer taken by Lance W. Jacob on 11-7-2000 in Coffey Co, Kansas. The buck officially scores 201-1/8 as a non-typical. It also scores 178-1/8 points as a typical, but Lance chose to enter it in the non-typical category since it can only be entered in one category. There have been various photos of this buck recently circulating on the internet with erroneous information saying it is a new World’s Record.
