December 9, 2003 at 5:05 pm #1901Actually, when you think about it they dont pray for snow as they are protected anyways, and their eyes are weak due to the lack if pigmentation, so a glare off the snow would tend to work against them i think…i dunno maybe i’m wrong.

December 10, 2003 at 9:28 pm #1931I did not take the pic. It is from earlier this fall from the neighboring farmer. We do have video though of the buck from the hunting season after we scared him up. We got within about 40-50 yards of him. He looks awfully arthritic or stiff or something. Rack is still very very nice though. It looks darker and bigger on the video.
My buddy found him bedded and got within 15 yards of him before he got up and went down the hill. I told him it was a once in a 100,000 lifetime experience!!
We have quite a few around here too. There is a doe in the valley we hunt that I know of, and possbily another buck about a mile away. A buck got killed a few miles away two years ago I believe, and I saw a small fawn about 4 years ago. There is also a big buck mounted that use to sut in the First State Bank in Fountain City, but is now in the Monarch Bar.
