I was at the farm this weekend and took a stroll to see hwo the critters were holding up. I was amazed at the amount of deer beds I found. I covered about half of the 240 acres and found over 300 beds. There were areas that had over 40 beds in a 10 yard circle. I found 3 of these plus many other scattered beds. I also found one yote kill of a 1.5 year old 6 point and one tiny nubbin buck that had died. I had seen this little guy all fall long while hunting. He was always alone and very small. No dead turkey at all. There is an unbelievable amount of sign in our woods. I am pretty sure the deer are using it for a wintering grounds. This is way more sign than I have ever seen in the past. I did see live deer on several occasions and they looked very healthy. Also saw turkey, grouse, swans, geese moving around welcoming spring. It was very good to see it all. Heading back next weekend to look over the other half of the farm, maybe shoot a yote or two and get started on next years firewood supply.
Beds galore
