Here’s a couple of pics of my son David with his 2013 Wisconsin rifle kill. 159 2/8″ 11 point. This buck came in with 8 does and 5 other bucks, one was a mid 130’s 10 point that needs another year. Needless to say, he’s a far better hunter at 25 than I ever was. I told him to appreciate how blessed he is to hunt deer in the age of QDM. When I was 25, a 125″ buck was rare and considered big. How times have changed!

Maybe the bigger buck that he had in during bow season will show up for me on Thankgiving!

I forgot to add that we hunt in western Vernon County. We’re about 6 miles from the Mississippi River. Big bluff country makes for big bluff country bucks.

I don’t think his new wife will be happy, though. Last year he had an $800 bear mount and now he’ll have another taxidermy bill. She’s a city girl to the core, so hunting is very new to her life. At this rate, she’d better get used to an annual taxidermy bill!

Thanks, Randy. I know that you too feel more pride when your daughter gets a nice one than when you kill one yourself.

The most important thing we can do as sportsman is work to develop the next generation of hunters to be good sportsman and good stewards of our resources.

She will get used to it I hung this one in our living room back in WI after being married a month. Now in TN, it greets us every time we come down to our main level!
