Here’s the buck I shot this weekend.
On Friday night, my brother was called into work (for Saturday morning), so I took his stepson out and put him in my stand opening morning. I walked about 200yds away to the edge of a 36 acre patch we just bought and let him have the best spot on the farm. I have no stand there, so I just brushed some leaves away from the ground and plopped my butt onto a folding chair. I bumped 2 small bucks and 2 does on the way there, so I wasn’t planning on seeing much. Well as luck would have it, 5 minutes into the hunt, I heard a grunt, looked up and saw two does trotting my way. Right behind them was the Split G-2 buck. I watched him for a minute or so, then shot him at 50 yards! He weighed 192 field-dressed and grossed 145 1/8”.

Three of us passed him last year and he exploded in size. My brother found one of his sheds this spring. I have a ton of trail cam pics and 4 trail cam videos of him. I have attached a few of the better ones.

Great looking buck. Looks better than 145″. Just goes to show that being in the right spot at the right time during the rut pays off. Congrats!!

Nice job, glad to see “letting him go and grow” paid off.
