After spending 50+ hours in the stand the last two weeks it took 20 minutes yesterday. I got to the stand at 1:30 and at 1:45 I had a fork and spike chase a doe through. About two minutes later this guy came through at 25 yards. The best part is the look on my 6 y.o. sons face. He would come running and asked me every day when I came home if I had shot a buck. Well today I was finally able to say yes! One of the first things out of his mouth was “Daddy, I am so proud of you”. 17″ spread………Not the monster others post, but I am happy and so is my little man!

way to go, the smile on his face is priceless.
i can’t wait to tell my son i shot a buck when i come home some night. I had the chance to shoot one when he was with me early in the season. i’m kicking myself for not shooting, he grunted it in for me at 14 yards.

Nice buck! Looking at that face, that’s an Old Timer who’s been around for a while and they don’t get any easier to hunt over time so congrats.

It’s fun to see the pictures of mega bucks, but we don’t all have the combination of land, feed, heard genetics, and low hunting pressure that can produce a lot of these bucks. I’m just as happy to harvest a decent 6 or 8 because it’s age and experience that make bucks hard to hunt, not rack size. That’s just a bonus.

Way to go and fantastic to get the boy excieted about hunting.

Thanks guys. My land borders public on two sides so the deer do get pressured……….that is why I LOVE the rut!

Congrats! Thats awesome you got your boy excited about deer

Nothing wrong with that buck at all! You went out and got it done under difficult circumstances and achieved your goals with the awesome bonus of bringing it home to your boy.

I echo all stated above. I can remember when my guys were that age and were every bit as excited for me as I was….that is the trophy!
