Nose Jammer review

I purchased Nose Jammer a week ago after reading the thread, “The never ending discussion…scent control”. A couple IDO members mentioned their “success” with it; so i decided to give it a shot. I googled Nose Jammer, and was taken to their webpage. Here, I found that a flooring company in Stillwater (my hometown) carried it. So I purchased the 6 oz bottle for $6.
The reason why i decided to buy Nose Jammer over other products was because of the testimonials from other members on this site and others, and the cost. I bought this product primarily for one stand. At this spot, the wind is constantly swirling and no matter which direction the wind is projected to come from, it’s always wrong.
Here are the three results that i have had while using this product when the deer are down wind:
    1. Deer don’t smell me
    2. Lift their heads in the air in a bobbing-like motion trying to understand what they smell. Sometimes they come closer to investigate the origin of the scent
    3. If they bust and snort, they do not bound off like a usual bust. They calm down and slowly walk away. I’m assuming they react this way because the smell isn’t “intrusive”
Result #2 happens about 3 out of 5 times that a deer gets down wind. And by “deer” I mean mature does and 2.5-3.5 year old bucks. I am very scent conscious and do whatever i can to stay clean! With the rut approaching and sightings of mature bucks, however, I am willing to take the risk of hunting a stand on a bad wind if I know that a mature buck is living close by. Now, I feel more confident doing this with Nose Jammer.
If i were to rate this product on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being: “I never get busted, and don’t need my scent killing spray or Scent Blocker because of it”, I would rate it at a 4
    Give it a try

I also gave Nose Jammer the first good try this weekend and I don’t know how I really feel about it. I had a good shooter 8pt at 25 yards up wind of me in a really difficult spot to hunt. It’s very prone to swirling wind and I knew the chance of being busted was fair.

He walked to 24 yards and stood up wind for about 2-4 minutes without taking a single step forward. 1 single more step he would have been toast. He kept scent checking and couldn’t figure out what was going on. Finally I felt the wind switch directions for a second he caught a scent. He trotted off out of range, but never threw up the white flag. After that he just kind of wandered off, not spooked but he knew something was up.

I wore it on tonight’s sit and purposely didn’t go 100% on the scent control measures to test my theory. I came back across the border and hunted in Minnesota and had a deer bust me 60 yards down wind. I have never wore Nose Jammer on this property and it was only the second time I have hunted it this year.

I think for archery I’m going to stick with my normal routine, maybe a hit of NJ if I’m feeling a little insecure.

Rifle wise, I’m going to smell like a Vanilla Frappuccino from yuppieville! I would have had a shot with a rifle on every single deer down wind of me this year, they just can’t seem to place the scent and it keeps them hanging around.

    Thanks for the review!

Since the Nose Jammer post went up last week, I’ve found myself using this product 3 out of my 6 sits. I typically will use it when I don’t have a favorable wind or a swirling wind like other’s have mentioned. Of the 3 sits I did use this product last week, I had deer down wind of me on all 3 sits and had very favorable results. Granted I did not see any shooter bucks during these sits, but if it can fool an old wary doe it has my endorsement.

Still not sure what to think. Sounds good. But with my current ‘ritual’, I literally have had does walk right under my stand and care less. 2 years ago I stuck an arrow right in her back and drop her faster than an old girlfriend!!!
