What type of area do you have success in during times like today? I’ve never had any luck in the wind, perhaps its just me…

you’re not the only one that doesn’t have much luck when the wind is blowing 15-20+. This year however, I have a spot that is down two steep draws-about 50 feet below the field above. On a windy day, it blows about 5-8 mph down there and the deer use it to get out of the wind

Was sitting in the same type of situation today with no action. Sure it doesn’t help that the adjoining corn is still up though.

I skipped the morning sit because of this wind. I think the deer are so spooky its hard to hunt them. I’ll be interested to see what others say.

Deer don’t move much after the wind gets up to around 12 miles and hour. They depend on their sense of smell and hearing and they can’t home in on where the smell and sounds are coming from. My thinking is if you can find a corn field that that’s where they will be or bedded down anywhere where they can use their eyesight. My favorite situation is where theres a heavy frost or recent light rain to hold scent and no wind next to a feeding and drinking spot. Good luck guys and I hope you get one.

I’m by no means a pro, but I like to share my info to help others… With that being said I like to look for sign the deer are there “the TV Guide” then I look for the best spot to sit so I won’t miss any of the action “my lazy boy” I tend to try to use calls a lot… “babe bring me a beer”…. Then it’s just a matter of time until I press the play button and enjoy my favorite hunting shows on windy days

But to be honest I can’t stand windy days.

I like to use a little topography when it’s windy. I sat at the bottom of the intersection of 3 huge hillsides, the wind was minimal, a little swirly but was able to get a mature buck within 25 yards during 25 mph winds.
