Dad said this buck and a spike were both dead on the highway a 1/2 mile south of our place. The bucks are moving.

I think it is going to be interesting at Ripley this weekend… between all the hunters moving deer and the “seeking” phase probably rolling, we might need to set up some STOP signs in the woods

That deers got some mass on his left side. Did you have pictures of him on your trail cameras? Could have been a cool buck if he had some years to put one some more frame size.

Deer are responding to rattling quite well and I’ve seen some minor chasing, should be a great weekend to kick off the 2013 rut!

It was a tough night for me. Only saw a doe and fawn very late. Tomorrow will be better hopefully. Hope the wind doesn’t blow as hard. I was hanging on tight tonight.

X2 on the wind, she was whipping and swirling. Had a good mid 130s 8 at 25 yards, it needed to take 1 step forward and I would have torched him. He decided enough was enough as the 3 minute stand off ended and he caught a scent as the wind switched 180. Trotted for 50 yards then walked away, tail down. Back in the stand!
