While I was visiting my girlfriend this weekend, her mom’s boyfriend fell climbing up the tree Sunday morning. The icy steps caused him to slip and fall 6-8 feet off the ground. On the way down, his leg caught one of his screw-in steps. He was able to walk back to his truck and drive to the hospital. He ended up with 13 stitches and will have a wicked scar

WOW is right, it could have been worse. That is why I no longer use screw-in steps, most of our stands now are ladder stands, but when I do need to use a portable stand I use climbing sticks. They cost more yes but better safe than sorry.

I hope he heals quickly. Looks like it should have needed way more than 13 stitches. Thanks for the reminder just how dangerous stands can be.
