My father pulled a chip last week from a camera where we hadn’t been getting much in the way of deer pictures. The camera is on an old abondoned road that goes through a nice stand of oak trees. There has always been lots of activity in this area in the past, but this fall very little.
So what do we have on the latest batch of pictures? A bunch of pictures of bears! A nice black bear and then maybe the same bear or maybe a different one on another day.
What impact, if any does bear acivity have on the deer in a certain area? My dad is convinced that deer won’t have anything to do with an area where they smell bears. I’m not convinced and I think he may be “translateing” some thinking about brown bears into an area where we only have black bears.
Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?
