3 of the 4 bucks I saw this weekend were still in velvet up in the Leech Lake area. 2 of them had about 8″ spikes and the other I saw driving was a decent 8 pointer.

I got a pic of a small 6 pointer from the guys over in Skonny. He was still in velvet. Reports are about 1 in 3 are still sporting the soft stuff over there.

The spike I saw on Saturday looked to have just shed his.

I pulled cards over the weekend and it looks like last week they really started shedding it. Beginning of the week most every buck was in velvet and by the end of the week only two were left in velvet. Got some cool pics of a decent buck shedding it off; get some pics up here when I get done working out.

Dad is mailing me our cards tomorrow. He said the velvet is off everything out there.

Here are the pics I said I’d put up. Wish I had more of him with the velvet coming off the tines, etc. However, I have never gotten many through the years with velvet still hanging off. I got a night picture a day before the first series where he appeared to be in full velvet still.

Should have mentioned in the first post, SC MN.

Here’s a couple pics of a buck shedding from last week. Nothing real special but he is the size of Crabby as a 2.5 year old. Who knows, maybe he will blow up to a 140″ at 3.5?? Pretty cool to get pics of another buck in the exact same spot shedding almost 2 years to the day later.
