New to public land hunting this year and I will be adding a climber to my arsenal. I may have some long hikes to get away from pressure and the stand will be primarily used for bowhunting. My criteria are as follows:

    1. Lightweight
    2. Open so I can take a sitting shot with bow if needed.
    3. Quiet
    4. Comfortable
    5. Size of tree it will fit in.

I think I have it narrowed down to a Lone Wolf Assault Hand Climber and the Summit Open Shot. They are similar in size, weight and the size of tree they will fit in. The Summit looks more comfortable and I like that the seat flips up on it for when you are standing (you can buy a mod for the Lone Wolf, but when a stand costs $400 I feel as though that should be included). However, I know that Lone Wolfs are incredibly quiet but also $150 more expensive.

Does anyone have any input on either of these two stands? Good or bad feedback is appreciated. Or is there a good one out there that I am missing?

I have the lone wolf sit and climb. Love the weight of it and how flat it packs.

The sit and climb doesnt have arm rests. That was the biggest thing that made me buy the sit and climb. On a long hunt those arm rests make a difference.

    Edit previous post…

The hand climber doesnt have arm rests. Thats what made me choose the sit and climb

I have the summit viper and love that stand. I’ve had it for 7 or 8 years and never had an issue. I know it’s not the model you are looking at, but just giving my opinion on brand.

Lone wolf flip top hands down. Worth the extra $ imo

Thanks for the feedback! I am having a hard time justifying a $380 stand plus a $125 mod to make the seat flip up. $505 is an incredible amount to spend on one stand. But I don’t think I would want a stand that the seat doesn’t flip up on.

Ive never owned a lone wolf but I do have a summit that ive owned for 7 years and its the most comfortable stand I own. I use it on public ground a lot but will also take it to my private hunting grounds if I plan to make an all day sit like during the rut because it is the only stand ive ever used that I could actually stay in from before sun up to after sunset. Ive killed a lot of deer using it that I otherwise would not have with other stands because I would have left after 4 hours because I was to uncomfortable. good luck i’m sure you will like either.

The $125 mod is for people who already have a sit and climb and want to convert to a flip top. You can buy just the flip top version for around $400 I think.
I just got mine last week and love it. The draw back of most climbing stands is that you have to place the top super low to be able to shoot(bow) while standing, making sitting uncomfortable and hard to get to a standing position quietly. With the fliptop I can sit and shoot or place the seat hi away from the base almost like a but-seat in the bow of the boat, just enough to take a little pressure off my feet but in good position to shoot as well.
