Pulled this off another site. There were a couple guys that said this was a Cull buck and should be taken out. There were also a couple guys that said it was a deer that had been in a dramatic accident thus the antler growth on the right side was odd…
My question is this…If it truly was in an accident (lets say hit by a car) is it still a “Cull Buck”? Its genetics would still be the genetics of the left side correct thus not a “Cull Buck”. The accident would not effect its future off-spring correct? Just hit me as odd that they thought this deer should be taken out…(I would take it out if a shot presented itself simply due to I think the rack is very unique and I’d like to see it on my wall!) I personally would have a hard time passing it, but given another year or two he could grow out of that injury and blow into something g special. Either way a nice deer!!!

I think the term “cull buck” is overused. Unless you have your own 100+ acres of land to hunt to yourself that is nowhere near a highway/rod, I wouldn’t worry about one buck effecting your deer herd. If this is the first sighting of the deer, than i would say injury. But if the guy saw him 2+ years in a row, than i would say genetics

Definitely not a “cull buck”. He would look great on the wall though, but I would love to have his genetics at our farm!

I would put his back straps on the grill, an his head on the wall. Very cool buck. People get too wraped up in the score . A trophy can be any deer in my book . Its about the hunt not the kill our score .

I agree. A trophy is a personal choice and it’s more than just about numbers and measurements.
