Poached Canon Falls area deer

I took these photos last weekend at the Mn Deer Classic. Seeing these horns first hand made the trip worth it for me. Crazy giant 4 point or 8 point for you non-westerners.

Was this the record buck that was shot a year or two ago that made headlines?

Yes. I wish I could have held it. I know I couldn’t get my paws around the bases. Just an unreal deer.

The perp, Troy Alan Reinke, after initially pleading not guilty, showed his yellow streak by copping a plea deal that sent him to jail, but only for 180 days.

Unfortunately for the hunters and real sportsmen and sportswomen, the plea deal was far, far too light. Prosecuters seemed to indicate that a conviction would be difficult because of the inability to prove that the perp actually killed the deer instead of found it already dead as he claimed.

Obviously, many deer hunters were (and still are)distressed at the lack of aggressiveness in prosecuting this case. Many feel that a plea deal should never have been offered, even if it meant there was a small chance that the perp would manage to convince a liberal jury that he didn’t commit any crimes.

These prosecuting attorneys need to grow a sack and quit with these joke plea deals. I think the majority of these deals are only because the attorneys look for the easy way out and don’t want to put in the work the job requires. It’s getting old real fast. This is why our laws don’t work and nut jobs like Feinstein try to make even more….
