    APR Supporters:

Representative Rick Hansen has introduced a bill (HF1222) that will repeal the language that Representative Drazkowski put in a couple years ago. This will give the DNR the authority it needs to continue APR beyond this year. The Minnesota Whitetail Alliance started a petitition that, once signed, will send a message to the member of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee Members that you support this bill. Here is the petition:

Please go in and sign this and pass it along to anyone else who is an APR supporter. You are able to add some of your own comments or just go with the generic message. Feel free to mention that you would like APR expanded beyond zone 3 in the future.

    Let’s get this done!

    APR Bill update

Tomorrow (Monday, March 11), the DNR will be presenting its data and recommendations to the Environment and Natural Resources Policy Committee. Our suspicion is that they will recommend that APR is allowed to continue in Zone 3. Given the positive surveys and feedback we have seen, we can’t imagine
    another outcome.

On Wednesday, the bill that will allow the DNR to continue the APR regulation (HF1222), will be discussed. Anyone wishing to give testimony is welcome to show up. I am not sure how many people they will allow to testify, but I think that even if we all don’t testify, just showing up will show support. It would be awesome if we could fill up the room and the hallways with APR supporters! It would be very hard for a small minority of hunters to take over the show at that point. If you are planning on attending, email me at [email protected]. Let me know if you are willing to give a testimony or just want to be there in support. I will be there and I will try coordinate some of our efforts when we are at this meeting.

Here is the agenda for the meeting:

    Environment and Natural Resources Policy

    WEDNESDAY, March 13, 2013 4:00 PM
    Room: 200 State Office Building
    Chair: Rep. David Dill

HF1185 (Falk) Elk license auction established to control elk causing damage or nuisance, and money appropriated.
HF1091 (Isaacson) Aquatic invasive species provisions modified, and invasive species penalties and enforcement modified.
HF1222 (Hansen) Antler point restriction rule criteria repealed.
HF906 (Hansen) Silica sand and other nonmetallic minerals mining model standards and criteria development required, and silica sand technical assistance team established.
