30 degree drop with 20-30 mph winds.
This should get the deer moving!

I’ve been watching that too. South wind is tuff for us. Friday night might be the night!

I am headed out this weekend with the old smoke pole. I am hoping this colder weather gets them back on their feet and headed back to the food. Deer movement has been switched back to night movement with the hunting pressure and warm temps. Good luck to everyone headed into the woods this weekend!

Does this weather really get them moving though? Like, what is cold to a deer? Is it the same for them as it is for us? I’ve seen it slow down during the warm weather for sure but I wonder how cold it needs to get to get the bucks out of their beds any earlier than normal.

I would agree. The warm weather had them shut down because it was to hot for them to move comfortably. I learned that moose hunting. What we think is comfortable is un-godly hot to them. What we think of as cold is just about right.

I always try to think back to my lab that would pant in the house with the thermostat set at 67 degrees. She would go outside in -20 degrees and lay in a snow bank. They are built for that nasty cold weather. I would say -0 and below is finally starting to get “cold” to them.
