My son and I are sharing a lease in Buffalo county with the Bergeson’s and have had cameras out for months trying to see what’s around and where they are moving. I was also bow hunting a number of times and saw many deer and decent bucks from one of the stands we had up. The other stand showed little activity and did not look promising. So on opening morning I told my son to hunt the “good” stand and I would take the other. I took a good buck with the bow and really wanted him to get into them. Well……8:30 saturday morning along comes this buck chasing a doe and I have 5 seconds to make the decision. The bad stand turned into the good stand and I shot my, and I found out later, my sons dream dream deer. Oh well kid, better luck next time…
Not a monster but a beautiful classic ten. Picture is for an I-Phone and does not do justice.

Looks like you are having a heck of a fall. Funny how it goes sometimes. Sorry for your son, but for you!

That’s hunting. If your not willing to shoot then why bother sitting in a stand with your gun. Disapointment is a valuable life lesson for your son. So is team work. He should be more thrilled that your team got that deer than dissapointed that he didnt.
