I went out last night without much faith in seeing a decent buck as I have only been seeing spikes 4’s and small bucks. I got in my stand around 345 and had a 4 point come in within 15 minutes followed by a wide but very short tines 7 point, I watched them for about another 15 minutes.
I was on a ridge top and was glazing the bottom bowl at about 150 yards I saw this guy working away from me so I grabbed the horns and hit them together for maybe 15 seconds and he turned and came running up the bluff towards me. He closed in to 50 yards and then crept slowly towards me taking 30 min or so to where I had him at 10 yards with only one window for a shot as it was very thick and brushy I drew back and let the arrow fly I saw that I hit him just a tad back but still had confidence in the shot I watched him run back down the bluff and thought I heard him crash but was unsure.
5 minutes went by and he started to run back towards me and then he grunted a few times and fell over and was down for the count. All in all I am happy with him although he did look bigger from the tree, for my second buck ever with a bow and first taken from rattling I am satisfied and tagged out for the year in WI still have a MN tag so maybe another will show up!
