After drawing on him 4 times on Wednesday night and not getting a shot and not seeing him Thursday ,Friday evenings and Saturday morning, Hunter and I got out a little later than I was planning Saturday afternoon. We got in to ground blind at 3:15 and we didn’t have to wait long, he showed about 3:50 and I got my shot. Hunter was happier than I was, ust seeing the excitement in him makes it hard to wait till next year when he can finally hunt. Hunter did the blood trailing job and it was short, he only went about 35 yards. We drug him out to the field then walked home to get truck. Hunter had everybody get in the truck and was telling everybody a virtual play by play. After field dressing deer we loaded him up and went back to the house were Hunter skinned out the back half of the deer and then I took over. I caped him out this morning with Hunter watching and then threw a tape on him and he grosses just over 165″.
Another great Father/Son memory was made

That’s awesome, especially for Hunter. Way to make him feel like part of the hunt. I remember those agonizing long years waiting to turn 12 so I could hunt with Dad.

Thought about this deer last night and I can’t imagine how hard it must have been to let him walk on Wednesday.

It wasn’t that i let him go Kooty, I drew on himfour diferent time and he would either move to a quartering in shot or facing away. I was starting to panic over the next few days and not seeing him. Believe you me I would of loved to get it done on Wed.

Haha. I actually woke up dreaming about having to let my #1 shooter walk because of the exact scenario you described. I can just imagine how sick you must have been watching him walk. Good job waiting for the right shot!

That is an awesome deer! I can’t wait for the day that I get to share a harvest with my son! I can’t wait for snow during archery season either!
