Found a twig on a 20 yard shot at a doe yesterday morning. Was a low shot and must’ve gone through the front leg. Followed blood for a friggin mile before it dried up, and no deer. Makes me sick, I really hate this part…

PS I realize it was the shot placement and not the broadhead, but my Rage3 only opened up 2 blades, those are going in the trash…

Do you know where you hit her in the leg?

How do you know all 3 blades came into contact with flesh in order to open up? I shoot them also and when I have made a solid hit all 3 opened up. When I have made a poor shot I also didn’t open up all 3. My biggest complaint with them is how easy the blades come out from under the rubber ring holding them in place. I am going to a different broadhead next year, just don’t know what yet.

Truthfully, I cant say. Its possible that the shot was so low that I only caught the top part of the broadhead. I trust the grim reapers 100% and I guess after trying this, I just dont trust it.

Looked like under the armpit, sure bled a bunch but I am pretty confident that she didnt die. Was a long 4 hours of tracking, Im still tired today.

Well you hit a branch though so that probably had something to do with it

Look at the new Rage heads this year…that o-ring is gone with a SWEET system that your blades will never pop on you….best blade on the market for a quick kill with a well placed shot. Everyone has the opinions on it but I have yet to have them change my mind in 5 years of shooting them.
I put a liver shot on a doe this year that ran 50 yds and folded up like I had taken her lungs and heart out with.

When I can trust a product that made up for my mis-placed quartering away shot they will never leave my quiver with that type of result!

I missed two deer a couple of years ago. Both hit twigs that I didn’t know were there. One was a clean miss (mudd but no blood) and the other was just like what you described.

I’ve taken a handful of deer and one bear using Rage (2 and 3 blade) – the damage they impart is impressive. Having said that, I too have grown weary of having to obsess over whether or not the blades are seated properly in the o-ring. I’ve switched to Slick Tricks. Similar looking to the good ol’ Muzzy (which has also served me well in years past) but they seem to fly a bit more like a field point from my Hoyt.
