Bob and Dan are a blast to watch. There’s never a dull moment and every time I hear Dan’s laugh I can’t help but laugh along with him. Plus Bob always finds a way to put a fish or two in the boat regardless of the conditions.

If anyone missed Bob’s last video, here’s that link too: Bob Bowman – 49.5″ Metro Muskie

    I had him at 20 yards this morning. He’s a 5 by 3, but there’s like 2 extra beams

IMHO he is a 2 rear old. Short face, no neck, yet a decent body. A GREAT deer to watch grow, Id love to see his right side next year!

    I think 1.5
Here is a pic of the two bucks I shot last year. I had them aged when I registered them 3.5 on the left, and 5.5 on the right.
    1. Look at the pronounced curve in the snout below the eyes sockets. As a buck ages this will get a more filled out and look like a straight line.
    2. The white hair around the eyes. By age 3 it starts to look more filtered into the face
    3. white hair on the sides of the nose. by age 3 is usually filtering into the top of the snout. By age 6, the snout is very white.
    4. High brisket line
    5. rump has little developement. The 5.5yr has a HUGE Azz on that boy.
6 muscle tone of the mid section of the rear legs. By 3-4 years the mid section of the hind legs will have a defined muscle tone instead of it looking like a stick poking down from the hind quarter. By 5 6 years it looks like an additional muscle mass added beneath the hind quarter.

Well, agree or disagree, this is what I look when guessing

Did they do a molar wear aging test on your deer? Just as an FYI, molar wear aging is not very accurate in many cases. If you really want to know the accurate age, make sure you have a “cementum annuli method” done for aging them. That is most accurate way to age deer. I had a buck aged a couple years back that had the body of a 2.5 year old but was really 5.5 years old and the rack supported the 5.5 age also. My deer’s teeth using the molar wear method showed them to be 3.5 so that was wrong too. You are probably real close with the way you aged them by body size and features. That’s how I try to field age my deer when hunting. If you still have the jaws you can still have them officially aged. I sent mine to http://www.deerage.com and they did a great job. I highly recommend them.
