Well, the first hunt of the season is over…no blood drawn.

My brother and I left last Wednesday, for a four day bender, to bow hunt whitetails near Bismarck, ND.

We hunted exclusively PLOTS land and saw a lot of deer. We each had a couple dozen chances to shoot does and small bucks (both velvet and hard horned), but we passed on everything we saw.

We did see three shooters (two shedding their velvet and one hard horned), but none provided shot opportunities.

Tons of fun to watch the sun crest the horizon, see your breath and experience the adrenalin rush when the rustling of grass, crunching of leaves and snapping of twigs, closes in on your stand location.

So glad fall is finally here!

Sounds like a great trip. Any pics to share?

Just some crappy phone camera pics. I discovered I need to cut the finger tips out of my gloves…touch screen doesn’t work so well through jersey fabric.

    Enjoy…what you can…

I hear on the gloves. I’ve got a very thin pair that I wear all year. Sometimes the phone will work, but most of the time it won’t. I end up fumbling around way too much.

Looks like it a was a good opportunity either way. Planning on heading back to NoDak again this year at all?

I have cut more than one finger-tip off of more than one pair of pretty nice gloves . I am ashamed that I can not hunt without my iPhone…sad.

Sounds like a very cool trip! Did you camp it or hotel it? Sounds like a blast !

    flatlandfowler-

    Probably not…

I’ll be headed to Portage, WI, Nov 6-10 – just not enough marital capital built up to do another trip.

    todders-
We “moteled” it…no “hotels” in the area
